Welcome to the Mulberry Bear Day Nursery and Pre-School

The Nursery is based in a modern purpose-built building. It was previously known as 'Open University Children's Centre' up until June 2005 when it changed its name to 'Mulberry Bear Day Nursery and Pre-School'. It has a safe and attractive garden area and a covered play area for poor weather conditions. The Nursery combines all the best features of pre-school childcare as found in day nurseries and nursery schools. The latest report from OFSTED commends the Nursery for the standard of its care.

There are approximately 54 places for children ranging from babies to school age. Each group has its own designated areas for sleeping, eating and quiet activities, but all children meet up at various times of the day.

The staff include nursery officers, most with NNEB qualifications or equivalent, and one early years specialist. The hours are 8.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 5.30pm on Friday. The Nursery is open all year except for approx a week over Christmas, Bank Holidays and two additional days at Easter and October half term to allow for refurbishments, repairs and reorganisation. The Nursery is committed to a policy of equal opportunities with non-sexist and non-racist care; violent toys and games are discouraged.  The Nursery is following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
